My first dog Ginger! She is a long-haired, 2-year old, teacup chihuahua. She is so snuggly and adorable. She follows me around the house and her tail goes nuts when I’ve gone out and come home. She was a rescue, she lived with a large mass of other teacup chihuahuas who attacked her when she tried to eat, drink, sleep, or get affection from her previous masters. She is adjusting slowly to the new household; but I think she’s happier here. Once she realizes she doesn’t have to be afraid of Ariel and Bastet I think she will find her confidence and love it here. I really love that she doesn’t bark. I have always disliked dogs barking unless they are protecting me. I think there is a huge difference between protecting me from people walking by and protecting me from someone entering my home at night. The latter is the only kind of barking I permit. I am so glad I don’t have to train that out of her. I do however have a complete blank slate for training her. As far as I can tell she was never taught to sit, lie down, stay, come, jump up, or how to go for walks. It is going to be difficult to train her to do these things while she’s adjusting to her new home, so I am going to take things slowly. First things first will be walks, which in turn will each her to sit and stay as well.
Bastet is quite upset with me though, he thinks I have brought home an assassin to kill him. He’s been hiding at the opposite end of the house from her and hissing whenever she is near him. What a little baby!!! She’s a third of his size and harmless!!! Oh well. He will adjust, and when he does I bet they will be best friends!
